The Cyclery is proud to have a team that quite simply, love bikes!

Because we are locals and love riding we take care in selecting the right bikes for the region. However we also love to ride away from home so we have a huge selection of bikes for all terrain and all cycling requirements.

Each bike, has been selected for our local market and is then professionally built by our team of mechanics. Each mechanic signs off that he has completed all checks and the bike is running well. And to ensure a premium quality service the bike is then checked again by another one of our professional team and also signed off. No buy it in the box and figure it out how it goes together problem here!

We have a dedicated kids area with a sizing platform and guide to help put your child on the best bike. We also have a great selection of kids accessories to help you funk up that next kids bike. Check out our massive range of kids bikes from the whipper snapper 12" alloy – you know that first bike you had, through to some outstanding 24 " bikes to help educate your child on gears and make riding with the family a simple pleasure of life.
We love bikes and seeing our customers out there riding. We know competing isn't for everyone, but enjoyment is, so come on in and check out South Canterbury's biggest selection of bikes for you and your family. We are here to help and make you feel relaxed about your next bike purchase or just to give you some helpful friendly bike riding tips and where to ride.

And its not just bikes, we have all the accessories to go with it – pumps, tubes, bike bags, puncture repair kits, cycle tops (and not just tight fitting lycra budgey smugglers either, full sizes guys), helmets and shoes, and the range is HUGE.

OUR STAFF

James Smith

Lead by owner James Smith, a proud Dad and husband to Wendy loves cruising with the family and competing in recreational races, it's about getting out there doing it. James is also focused on making sure The Cyclery supports local bike events and upcoming riders and is delighted to have the likes of  David Ashby-Coventry and Dylan Kennett  riding in Cyclery Team gear, along with other fantastic top local riders.

Andrew Lawry

Andrew Lawry, perhaps New Zealand's longest serving bike mechanic, and boy does this dude know everything about bikes. Pretty much if Andrew can't fix it, it wasn't worth fixing anyway. This chap knows all the models dating back before well..... Anyway, Andrew is well up to speed with all the modern technology and is another one of our great staff that is a Shimano approved bike mechanic – he's our Bob the Builder, bike dude.

Shane Simms

Shane Simms, another one who is also a proud Dad. Shane however still manages to find time to compete in numerous events including the Timaru 12 hour event  on his own! Shane is one of our top mechanics, and is also Shimano accredited as well as having been to Melbourne to undertake Specialized training. Shane also works on the shop floor and has extensive knowledge on bikes and how to set up your bike for your individual needs, really adding to the overall experience at The Cyclery.

Mick Saunders

Mick Saunders, he's a pom..... but we don't hold that against him. Mick was ranked in the top 20 in the UK for time trialling so when you want to discuss road bikes, he's your man. Mick is one of our team of staff that assembles bikes and is also there to help you find the perfect bike for your ultimate riding experience.

OUR RIDERS

David Ashby-Coventry

Probably the regions most exciting prospect in Mountainbiking, David is simply awesome to watch if you get the chance out on the hills. David has risen through the national ranks and is regularly spotted in the Scenic Reserve training. David is a really approachable young lad that if asked for advice is willing to help out.

Dylan Kennett

Another extremely exciting talent to come out of Waimate. Dylans focus is on the Track but road racing take up a lot of his time as well. Now part of the Bike NZ Elite riding grup, Dylan frequently leaves our shores to compete overseas. Dylan is another incredibly approachable young man who is ready and willing to pass on any information that might help someone else improve.

Jono Nelson

Jono is regularly spotted out training on his hand cycle and with his eyes firmly pinned on Rio he is another one to watch. Jono is one of new Zealands top hand cyclists and one we are very proud to be associated with.
These are some of the more high profile riders, however we are incredibly lucky that we have a very loyal and supportive customer base who love to ride and love to help.
